The ‘Mommy Makeover’

The ‘Mommy Makeover’ is a term used widely amongst American cosmetic surgeons, hence why it’s named ‘Mommy’ as a posed to the British term ‘Mummy’. The name was given to describe a breast and abdominal procedure performed in one operation, rather than separately. The ‘Mommy Makeover’ is largely popular for women following the birth of their child/children. After pregnancy a mother’s breasts and abdomen can descend and sag with the stretching of the skin where once it was firm. However, the operation is also popular with women who have not had any children. Age, gravity and weight change are all contributing factors when it comes to us not looking and feeling our firmer former selves.

The breast surgery could be a breast lift, breast implants, breast reduction, breast lift with implants. The abdominal surgery would be either a tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck. Having both procedures performed in one operation will always increase time spent in theatre, so it does become a bit of a bigger operation to undergo.

There is a cost saving when the two procedures are combined into one period of time in the operating theatre, however it can seem not too drastic as there are various things to factor in.
